Vegetarian Snacks And Foods To Prevent Hair Fall
Here’s a list of vegetarian-friendly snacks and foods to prevent hair fall. As important as it is to know what to eat, I included why each food or snack is vital.
Table of Contents
Spinach and other leafy green vegetables
Spinach is a rich source of hair-helpful nutrients such as iron, vitamin A, and vitamin C, which are helpful for hair growth. Iron is vital for hair growth because deficiencies in iron can be linked to hair loss.
More leafy greens options: kale, broccoli, kelp, seaweed, cabbage, microgreens.
If you have hair loss due to hormonal imbalances, then try adding seaweed and kelp — rich sources of iodine — to your diet because these green vegetables help to regulate hormones and can help promote hair growth.
Almonds and other nuts
Almonds are one of the easiest ways to get vital nutrients for hair growth because they are a rich source of vitamin B, vitamin E, zinc and good fats.
A deficiency in any of these vitamins can lead to hair loss.
Other good-for-hair nuts include: brazil buts, walnuts, pecans, cashews
Seeds
Seeds are an important source of nutrients such as vitamin E, vitamin B, zinc, magnesium, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, which are supposed to do wonders to increase hair growth and reduce hair loss.
- Sunflower seeds are rich in zinc, vitamin E and B.
- Flax and chia seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
- Pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc, iron, calcium and proteins.
- Fenugreek seeds are rich in proteins.
Beans, lentils, chickpeas, soybeans
This group of foods is also known as “legumes” and they are rich in protein, iron, zinc and biotin. Remember: hair is largely made up of protein, so having a protein-rich diet is helpful to promote hair growth and prevent hair fall.
Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a good source of beta-carotene, which the body breaks down into vitamin A — a vital nutrient for hair health.
Vitamin A aids in the production of sebum (the natural oil that the skin produces to moisturize and protect skin and hair) in hair follicles; this helps to keep the scalp nourished and and prevents it from drying out, which in turns speeds up hair growth.
Bell peppers (capsicum)
Bell peppers are packed with vitamin C, which is an antioxidant that protects hair from oxidative stress. This occurs when the skin and hair don’t have enough antioxidants to fight the effects of free radicals such as pollution and sun damage, resulting in dull skin or hair loss. Vitamin C helps to strengthen hair strands.
Bell peppers are also a great source of vitamin A for good hair health.

Fruits
Eat fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, guava, kiwi, oranges, and papaya, which are packed with vitamin C and help to strengthen hair strands, reducing the chance of hair breakage and hair loss.
Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt is packed with protein, which is vital for hair health. It is also a rich source of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which is known to help blood flow to the scalp and help repair hair follicles from damage due to heat styling and sun exposure.
Avocado
If you feel that your scalp is dry and flaky, then it’s an indication you need to increase the intake of foods such as avocados, which are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids (also known as healthy fats).
Fatty acids help the body absorb vitamins more effectively, so that ensures your body is getting all the nutrients it needs for good overall health, which in turn helps improve hair growth.
Avocado is high in zinc and vitamin E; both vitamins help improve hair health.
