Podcasts To Listen To While Running Or Walking
Here are some of the best podcasts to listen to while running or walking — they really make the time fly by.
Depending on the mood I’m in, I like taking a few minutes every day to choose which podcasts I’m going to listen to while I am on my daily walk / run. If you’re interested in society and culture, relationships, health and fitness, parenting, women-led businesses, blogging tips or the beauty industry, then you’ll find something in the list below.
All of these podcasts are available on either Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere else you might find podcasts.
Here are my current favourites:
In Good Company (with Otegha Uwagba)
Category: Society & Culture
In this podcast, the host Otegha Uwagba interviews professional women from different industries and diverse backgrounds and focuses on their jouneys to success. The topics covered include work, feminism, race, money, culture, and more. I find this podcast particularly interesting to listen to because it is based out of the UK, so I’m not familiar with most of the guests and the companies mentioned, which means there is a lot of new and interesting information to absorb. I also find the quality of the host’s voice very calming and the general vibe of the whole podcast is relaxed and casual. It’s one of my favourite podcasts to listen to while walking.
The Michelle Obama Podcast
Category: Relationships
In this podcast Michelle Obama gets into deep conversation with family members, loved ones, friends, mentors and mentees, and colleagues and she focuses on relationships. In each episode Michelle Obama shares the story of how, when, and where she met the guest and what impact they had on her own life. The conversations are raw, honest, never the same, and touch on a wide variety of topics. As a host, Michelle Obama is honest and candid, but also incredibly funny and witty. I am a huge Michelle Obama fan, so I might be biased but I highly recommend this podcast.
Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend
Category: Comedy
A funny, lighthearted podcast hosted famous late night TV talk show Conan O’Brien, which doesn’t take itself too seriously. The guests on this podcast are mainly celebrities, actors, comedians and famous athletes and the conversations are fun and silly. This is a great podcast to listen if you like the late night tv style of interviews and want something easy to listen to.
On Purpose With Jay Shetty
Category: Health & Fitness
If you’re into mindfulness, health, and wellbeing, then I think you will enjoy this podcast. Jay Shetty is a famous life/positivity coach, public speaker, and author; he interviews many famous celebrities on his podcast from J. Lo to Priyanka Chopra and the main themes of his conversations are mental health, wellbeing, mindfulness etc. The general vibe of the podcast is uplifting and aspirational, maybe veering too “fluffy”, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing (especially when I need the motivation to keep moving for 60 minutes!).
The New Mamas Podcast
Category: Parenting
The New Mamas Podcast is hosted by Lina Forrestal — a first time mom who experienced a whole bunch of different and unexpected things after giving birth. She realized no one talked about some of the things she went through –emotionally, mentally and physically — and she wished someone did. So Lina created this podcast to fill in that gap in the hopes of normalizing conversations around “taboo” or lesser talked about topics such as post-partum depression, SIDS anxiety, surviving the newborn phase, body image issues, and more. Even though I’m a second time mom, I find the content relatable and interesting; the conversations are candid, honest, and moving that I get so engrossed and don’t realize where the time goes. If you are thinking about starting a family, expecting, or a parent, then definitely give this podcast a try.
The Glossy Beauty Podcast
Category: Business, Health
If you’re interested in entrepreneurship, beauty, health, or wellness, then you’ll enjoy The Glossy Beauty Podcast. Each episode is about 30 minutes long and features conversations with leaders (mostly women) from different companies in the beauty and wellness industries. The podcast covers current topics in beauty and health and looks at future trends. I really enjoy the casual style and candid conversation between the host and guest, making the podcast easy to listen to yet informative at the same time.
Thrive Blogger Podcast
Category: Business, Technology
Simply put: if you’re an aspiring blogger or influencer, then you need to listen to this podcast. The host is Bree Pair and each episode features a guest who is an expert in different areas and platforms of blogging and social media such as Pinterest, Instagram, email marketing etc. What I really like about this podcast is that the conversations are very informative, practical, and there is a lot of good, actionable advice in each episode. And if you’re not a blogger/influencer, I still think it’s a great podcast for anyone interested or working in digital and social media.
