Pink Lipsticks For Medium Brown Skin and Pigmented Lips
I like wearing pink lipsticks in the daytime because I feel they are more soft and wearable and make my face look healthy and glowy.
That being said, trying to find pink lipsticks that actually suits medium brown skin without washing it out or making the face look grey / ashy is a challenge. Am I right?
Well, after much (MUCH!) trial and error I have curated a collection of pink-toned lipsticks (both affordable and high end) that I think suit medium brown skin.
Here are my top picks:
Table of Contents
Pink Lipsticks From MAC Cosmetics
MAC Cosmetics Satin Lipstick – Faux
Faux is a nude pink shade with a brownish undertone making it a very suitable nude lipstick for medium brown skin. The satin finish is nice because it’s not drying on the lips, comfortable to wear and lasts a long time. This lipstick is what I call a “purse lipstick” because it’s so wearable with any look that it’s something that I reach for without thinking twice. My favourite way to wear Faux is during the daytime with just a hint of bronzer and blush (in a similar pink tone) on the cheeks, a dust of bronzer or neutral brown shadow across the lids to add a little dimension, and mascara. It is the lightest of all the pink lipsticks I own, so I would say if you have a deep or dark skin tone be careful the shade doesn’t wash you out.
MAC Cosmetics Satin Lipstick – Brave
Brave is very similar to Faux except that the pink shade is a little deeper with a neutral/cool undertone, making it very suitable for more pigmented lips that need good coverage. It also has a satin finish, which means it is very comfy and long-wearing. My favourite way to wear Brave is with outfits in cooler tones like grey and blue because I think they complement each other really well. I think it will suit most skin tones.
MAC Cosmetics Satin Lipstick – Twig
Twig is a deeper plummy pink shade with a warm undertone. It looks stunning on medium brown skin tones and does an amazing job of covering up pigmented lips. I think it’s one of those shades that will suit almost anyone with a medium to deep skin tone. The satin finish makes it very comfy on the lips and wearable day or night. My favourite way to wear Twig is to apply one layer to my bottom lip and then press my top lip against it to create a more blotted, natural look; I prefer doing this because it is a more pigmented deeper pink shade I don’t want my lips looking too dark, especially in the day time. Sometimes on top of Twig I like to take a nude lipstick (Faux works great) and apply a little on the centre of lips to create some dimension.
MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick – Mehr
Mehr is a mauvy pink with a cool undertone. It is another favourite for medium brown skin and pigmented lips because it is a rich and flattering tone of pink. The matte finish ensures that it lasts all day without fading. My favourite way to wear Mehr is with evening looks when I wear heavier eye makeup i.e. smokey eyes/deeper eyeshadows/eyeliner. I also like wearing Mehr with cooler toned and dark coloured outfits because I think they complement each other very well.
High-End Pink Lipstick
Huda Beauty Power Bullet Matte Lipstick – Rendez-Vous
Rendez-Vous is a rich nude pink with a warm undertone. It is extremely pigmented and does a great job of making pigmented lips look rosy and healthy. What I love about this shade is that it truly achieves that “my lips but better” effect, especially when it’s blotted. It has a matte finish so I prefer to blot to create a more natural and lighter look on the lips. My favourite way to wear Rendez-Vous is in the daytime with no or very minimal makeup. But since it has a very long-lasting matte formula it would also work great as a nighttime lipstick.

L’Oreal Color Riche Matte – 288 Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc is a deep rosy pink with a neutral undertone. It’s one of the very rare rosy pinks that suit medium to deep skin tones and brightens up the face. It’s another “purse lipstick” — perfect to wear everyday and looks great with or without makeup. Although the formula is supposed to be matte, I feel it has more of a satin finish, which makes it extremely comfortable to wear all day (it’s one of my grail lippies!). My favourite way to wear Mont Blanc is with a no makeup makeup look i.e. flawless skin with a hint of blush and highlight and mascara.
Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick – 803 Tidal Taupe
Tidal Taupe is a soft pink with a warm taupe undertone. On pigmented lips it appears like a rosy/nude pink, making them look healthy and plump. It is a liquid lipstick with a slightly glossy finish so it doesn’t last long but it’s very comfortable to wear and great for more natural looks. To make it last longer, I sometimes pair with either a matte lipstick or a lip liner. My favourite way to wear Tidal Taupe is more like an everyday lip gloss with no or minimal makeup.
