Master One Easy Summer Makeup Look That Goes With Everything

Depending on where you live, summer is (or is almost) here! While it’s a season we all love, wearing makeup in the summer can be stressful. So, here’s an easy summer makeup look that goes with everything, day and night. Slap it on and forget about it!

Skin prep for summer

No matter what the season, your makeup only looks as good as your skin prep. It’s the simple truth.

Following this simple formula for skin prep in the summer will work for most people, but you really have to know your skin type and what it needs to adjust it accordingly.

Start with a toner or serum (vitamin C serums are good to bring a natural glow to the face), then use moisturizer (a lightweight formula is best — skip this step in the summer, if you have very oily skin), and finish off with a sunscreen (choose matte or hydrating, depending on your skin type).

What about tinted sunscreen? Tinted sunscreens are great for minimal / no makeup days. I don’t recommend using it as a base, if you’re looking for a long-lasting summer makeup look.

Tips for summer makeup

Summer makeup is tricky because you are striking a fine balance between good, long-lasting coverage, but you still want the skin to breathe and look like natural. The key is to work in thin layers and wear makeup strategically.

Here are some tips to get that sun-kissed effect on the skin:

  • Apply all liquid and cream product first, then set with powders as needed
  • Create the effect of glowy skin by adding liquid highlighter on the cheeks and tip of the nose.
  • Avoid applying a full face of foundation. Instead spot conceal using a concealer and a powder foundation to set the face. This also makes it easier to touch up during the day. **If you have very oily skin, then use a skin tint + translucent powder for coverage.
  • Apply a cream blush for a more skin like glow (optional: set it with a powder blush). **If you
  • Use a neutral gold eyeshadow on the lids to brighten the eyes and add more subtle glow. Add a little bronzer / neutral brown in the crease to create depth and dimension.
  • Fill in eyebrows and use a brown eyeliner to create wings and then smudge it out to keep it natural and easy.
  • Wear a satin finish lipstick or tinted lip gloss.
  • Set everything with a makeup setting spray.
