How to use Olaplex No.0 and No.3
Once a month use Olaplex No.0: Intensive Bond Building Treatment and Olaplex No.3: Hair Perfector together as a conditioning and bond building treatment before washing hair.
First apply No.0 to dry hair in sections, so that hair is fully damp. Leave on for 10 minutes at least or longer. While hair is damp with No.0, add the No.3: Hair Perfector, which is a weekly treatment, to reduce breakage and strengthen hair.
Depending on your hair type, volume and length, apply a generous amount of Olaplex No.3 cream all over damp hair and massage it in. Leave on for at least 10 minutes, longer if desired, and then wash hair with No.4: Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5: Bond Maintenance Conditioner.
Once a week use Olaplex No.3: Hair Perfector as a weekly treatment before shampooing hair
No.3 can be used on its own as a weekly hair treatment before washing hair. Just remember that it has to be applied to damp hair, so wet hair before massaging in the treatment cream. Leave on for 10 minutes (or longer) and rinse with shampoo.
Do not use No.3 Bond Smoother overnight because your hair will remain damp and it can lead to more breakage, if you sleep or leave it overnight.
Olaplex No.4 and No.5
Twice a week cleanse hair with No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo — rinse twice to ensure scalp is very clean (this is key for good long-term hair health). The shampoo is designed to leave hair shinier and healthier as well as reduce breakage. It is also color-safe, which means if you have colored hair, it’s safe to use.
After shampooing, always follow up with No.5: Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Depending on your hair type and length, take approximately a dime-sized amount and massage it into the hair, focusing on the lengths. Leave on for at least 3 minutes before rinsing. The conditioner is designed to repair dry and damaged ends, de-frizz hair, and it’s color-safe too.
Olaplex No. 6
No.6 Bond Smoother is a leave-in styling treatment for hair. It is designed for all hair types including colored hair to condition and strengthen. You only need a pea-sized amount because the formula is quite highly concentrated. Each time after using shampoo and conditioner, apply on towel dried hair. It helps define curls, act a heat protectant from heat styling, and reduces frizz.
Is Olaplex worth it?
The short answer is: Yes.
My hair has a lot of color and chemicals in it, which means it is excessively dry and mildly damaged too, so it needs some heavy duty care. It’s not a bad thing. I chose to color my hair and get regular glazes, so to maintain it in the long-run requires some effort and that’s where Olaplex comes in. It’s been 3 months since I started using the hair care system and I am impressed at how soft, shiny and strong my hair looks despite all that I do to it!
