What Is A Korean Sheet Mask
Originating in Korea, sheet masks are essentially single-use sheets (usually made from biodegradable materials like cotton, bamboo, tencel, plant cellulose or plant fibres) soaked in a serum or essence, which are packed with ingredients that are good for your skin. They are in the shape of a face with cutouts for eyes and nose. Sheet masks are typically water-based and great for hydrating the skin. But, you can find all kinds of sheet masks with ingredients to target specific skin concerns.

How To Use A Sheet Mask
In your skincare routine sheet masks replace the serum step. They can be used day or night. So, use a sheet mask after your face is cleansed.
Cleanse > Sheet Mask > Treatments > Moisturizer (+ Sunscreen in the AM).
Sheet masks are packed in single packets, which must be teared open. Don’t throw away the packet until you’re done with the sheet mask because there is usually extra serum that settles at the bottom that you can scoop out and apply to your face and it’s also helpful when you need to dispose of the wet sheet mask.
Using a sheet mask isn’t too hard, but requires a little patience because they are so thin and slippery. Carefully unfold the sheet mask and map your eyes and nose to the cutouts on the mask. Pat the mask on and apply any excess serum from the packet on top. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes or as directed on the product, remove mask and massage serum into face and neck, and then follow up with the rest of your skincare routine. Don’t wait for the mask to dry up or your face to feel dry. The secret is in the immense hydration the skin receives and you will want to lock it all in with a moisturizer.
Here’s a tip: sheet masks provide great slip, if you want to massage your face with a face roller while you wait.
If you have tired or dull skin, then a sheet mask is a quick way to brighten and plump up the skin.
