Did you know blue eyeliner makes brown eyes pop?
If you have brown eyes, then colors such as blue, purple, and green will make your eyes pop. This is because brown is a warm color with red / orange undertones, so any colors that are opposite red/orange on the color wheel i.e. blue/green will really make your eyes stand out.
Blue on the waterline
There are so many different ways to create blue makeup looks using eyeliner and/or eyeshadow. Personally, I find blue eyeshadow a little trickier to work with because it is a very pigmented color, runs the risk of smudging, and often gets messy on application.
So, I prefer to use blue eyeliner and smudge it out with a brush for easy application. Sometimes I will use a little eyeshadow smudge and set the liner, so it doesn’t budge.
The Sephora Collection 12H Colorful Contour Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner is my favorite range of colored eyeliners. It has a gorgeous variety of colors in shimmer and matte finishes; the color pay off is amazing; and it doesn’t budge. Let me add that it’s very affordable too.
The shade I used in the look below is My Boyfriend’s Jeans (such a cute name!). It’s a slightly shimmery cobalt blue.

How to create a blue eyeliner look
Step 1: Use a medium gray eyeshadow on the lid and blend into the crease and outwards to wing it out.
Step 2: Apply blue eyeliner to the top lash line and use an angle brush to refine the edges and create a wing. Optional: use a smudge brush to smoke it out, if you want.
Step 3: Apply eyeliner to the bottom lash line and then use blue eyeshadow to smudge and set it. Optional: apply some black eyeliner / silver glitter to the inner third of the waterline for added intensity.
Step 4: Contour the face using a matte bronzer. It helps emphasize the sultry, smoky nature of the whole look.
Step 5: Apply a coral-toned blush to complement the blue eyes. Add highlighter, if you like.
Step 6: Apply a nude/coral lipstick to finish off the whole look.
