Why You Need To Try A Purple Blush
In this post, I’m going to share with you why you need to try a purple blush, especially if you have medium to dark skin tone. It’s rare that I am a follower of viral trends, but this is a good one and I have to share it with you.

Why purple blush looks good on medium to dark skin tone
It’s simple color theory: yellow is opposite purple on the color wheel, so they are complementary colors.
In makeup, purple primer is used to brighten dullness in skin with a yellow undertones. But in the form of a pigmented blush, it creates a beautiful bright, pink flushed effect on those with yellow and golden undertones.
Ever wondered why pink blush just never really works the same way for medium to dark skin tones? It’s because while the pink blush tone might be right, the richness of the pigmentation is lost on darker skin.
So, that’s why a purple (or deep berry, jam, plum) toned blush will show up as the rosy, pink flush of color we all love and desire.
Purple blush for brown skin tones
The best way to apply it to skin is to use a cream blush formula because purple is such a pigmented color and you want to use something that will blend easily into the skin.
For medium to dark skin tone, use a deeper, berry-toned purple like an eggplant purple or plum purple.
For light to medium skin tone, use a lighter, lilac purple.

How to wear purple blush video makeup tutorial
Step 1: Finish base with foundation and concealer, but do not set face with powder until after blush is done.
Step 2: Use fingers to apply a few dots of purple cream blush to the cheek bone and blend upwards using fingers into the temple until happy with the intensity. Purple blush is very pigmented, so don’t get scared, just keep blending and then follow the next step.
Step 3: Use a translucent setting powder to set the face lightly. This will help tone down the intensity of the blush to a more natural tone.
Step 4: Continue on with other makeup as desired or simply put on some mascara, brows and lip balm and call it a day 🙂
