Daily Healthy Habits To Stay Fit, Happy, And Productive
In this post, I want to share some healthy habits to stay fit, happy and productive. These are habits I follow every single day and they really help me feel better. As a result, my days are better too.

Follow A Morning Routine
After reading so much about how having a morning routine is a healthy habit, which can really set the right tone for the day, I decided to give it a try and created a morning routine for myself. I start every morning with a cup of hot water with honey, lemon and cinnamon to get my body’s systems going. Followed by breakfast, reading the news and checking messages, making coffee and then shower and skincare routine. I now totally see why having a morning routine gets so much hype — it works! Starting out each day with a routine helps my brain (and body) to slowly get ready for the day ahead. I really try my best not to rush through my morning routine and appreciate each part of it, so that I am relaxed, happy and full at the start of the day.
Drink Lots Of Water
I’m apologizing to my body when I was in my twenties for not drinking enough water. Adopting the healthy habit of drinking lots of water has really helped with so many small things, I didn’t even think about. Drinking water helps me stay full and eat less junk. It has done wonders for clearing up my skin and making it look plump and radiant. I don’t really count how many glasses or calculate the amount of water I’m consuming because I find it tedious. My hack is to keep a sports water bottle wherever I am — my desk, bedside, car, while I’m out for a walk — and the goal is that I need to finish that bottle for the duration I am doing an activity and it works.
Move My Body 5-6x A Week For 60 Minutes
You’re reading a post on healthy habits from a girl who as a teen proclaimed she *hates* being outdoors and is *allergic* to sweat. Now my days are scheduled around my 60 minutes of daily exercise…outdoors. This daily habit initially started as part of losing postpartum weight and it just stuck. I grew to love walking in fresh air for an hour with a podcast on. It’s very relaxing and a great mood booster, if I’m feeling low or lazy. Just go for a walk. So simple. I keep my weekly exercise routine quite simple: walk for 60 minutes 3x a week and walk 45 minutes + 15 minutes of weights 3x a week.
Plan Out All Meals For The Week — Add In Those Cheat Meals Too!
This is not breaking news. Planning out meals has huge benefits and reduces so much daily stress when it comes to thinking about meals and food. I created a weekly menu for my whole family. We stick to it and then make a few changes every few weeks when we get sick of it. I added in some cheat meal dinners, so we have something to look forward to as well. Having all the meals for the week planned out cuts out so much unnecessary groceries, wasted food, and unhealthy eating.
Portion Out Each Meal
This healthy habit builds on the previous one. I also portion out each meal along when I meal prep. It sounds tedious and excessive, but it helps immensely in ensuring I eat nutritious and balanced meals every single day. The biggest benefit is that my stomach is now trained for these portions and I will very rarely eat more than I truly need. This maintains my weight and fitness without having to make too much of an effort. Of course, daily exercise matters too. But portioned meals is the secret (at least for me) to staying fit in a manageable and healthy way.
Stick To Daily Skincare Routine + Take Off Makeup
If you’re new here, hi! I’m a skincare junkie and tell everyone around me that they need to have a skincare routine. Even if it’s just using facewash, moisturizer, and sunscreen every morning and taking off makeup at night. You’re already doing SO much for your skin’s health in the long-run (bye bye fine lines and wrinkles). I am very *intentional* about my AM and PM skincare routines. I truly enjoy the 5 minutes I spend on it because I know I am doing something good to take care of myself and, well, who doesn’t love glowy, healthy skin every day?

No Phone First Thing In The Morning & Before Bed
This one is hard, I know. But, I’m getting better at it. I keep it really simple: I don’t look at my phone for at least the first 45 minutes of the day after waking up and I try to put it away by 10PM and not look at (aka not open and reply to messages) it until the morning. I have a weird analogy for why I do this: my phone feels like an ON/OFF switch for my day. Once I look at it, the switch is ON and I have to change gears to “productive mode” and when I put my phone away — the switch is OFF — I can just switch to “relax mode”. This way I am more intentional about when and how I use my phone and avoid unnecessary stress and wasted time looking at things when I don’t really have to.
Schedule Calls To Catch Up With Family and Friends
It sounds SO cold and distant when you think about having to “schedule a call” with a loved one. But, let’s be honest, I think we can agree that texting just doesn’t cut it for meaningful conversations and nurturing relationships. I say “schedule” intentionally because everyone’s busy and, for me at least, I know if it’s in my schedule then I will show up for it. Catching up with family and friends is something I really look forward to and value. It’s a really nice break from texting and there is just something different about having an actual conversation over the phone. It’s a healthy habit that I’m so much better at following now and it does wonders to turn a bad day into a good one.
Do Something That Makes You Happy Every Day
This might be my favorite healthy habit from the whole list. I used to think I had to wait until the weekend or some special time in the future to do something nice for myself. The simple truth is: you don’t. I have some guilty pleasures such as watching beauty and travel videos on YouTube, binging Korean dramas, reading skincare blogs, listening to podcast, wearing makeup (even if I have nowhere to go haha) or exploring new cafes. Believe it or not, I slot doing one or more of these things into most of my days. It brings me joy and that’s all that really matters 🙂
