Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum Review For Scars and Hyperpigmentation

Here is my review on the Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum after using it daily for two weeks. I have a lot of acne scars and a few sunspots showing up with age, so I was looking for a product, which could target both of these concerns. On reading the ingredients and product claims, the Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum looked like what I was looking for. FYI this is not a sponsored post. All thoughts are my own.

Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum Ingredients

The key ingredients are 3% tranexamic acid (cetyl tranexamate mesylate) and 4% niacinamide and this combination helps to fade discoloration; reduce the appearance of acne scars; and even out skin tone.

What is tranexamic acid?

Derived from lysine amino acid, tranexamic acid is a water-soluble ingredient, which helps to fight discoloration, hyperpigmentation and scarring as well as brighten skin. It is a gentle active skincare ingredient, which is generally safe for all skin types and daily use. It pairs well with other skincare products such as vitamin c, retinol, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and sunscreen.

What is niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a popular skincare ingredient. It is a derivative of vitamin B3. Niacinamide is a water-soluble and antioxidant vitamin, which means it helps the skin retain moisture, protects skin barrier and evens out skin texture. It is also a gentle active skincare ingredient and suits all skin types and is safe for daily use. It pairs well with retinol, hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides.

How To Use The Serum

The Discoloration Correcting Serum is gentle enough to use twice daily and pairs well with pretty much any skincare product.

AM routine: Apply Discoloration Correcting Serum after vitamin C serum and before moisturizer and sunscreen.

PM routine: Apply Discoloration Correcting Serum after toner/essence and before treatments such as retinol and/or moisturizer. NB I *don’t* use the serum on the days I use AHAs or BHAs in my PM skincare routine because I don’t want to irritate my skin. This is a personal preference.

My review

I like it. The Discoloration Correcting Serum has a milky texture and glides beautifully on to the skin. It’s not sticky or gloopy at all. What makes this serum extra special is how my skin feels right after application; it feels smooth, velvet-soft, and hydrated. I also think adding it into my AM and PM skincare routines has really helped to brighten my skin, especially around the eyes, a lot. My scars are less visible, but I won’t say there’s a huge difference after only two weeks. Given the low % of the active ingredients, I’m not surprised by this. Added bonus: it’s very affordable at $12 and it’s a multipurpose product, so you can target multiple skin concerns.
