The Perfect Green Smoky Eye Look For Fall
Fall is here and it’s my favourite time of the year! I may live in the tropics with hot weather all-year round, but that doesn’t stop me from embracing the warm and cozy earthy tones for my makeup and outfits.
I’m sharing this green smoky eye look, which I think is perfect for fall. There are hints of mustard yellow, army green and deep brown to add some depth and warmth to the look.
Here are the products I used to create this look:
- Eyeshadow colours: deep forest green (shimmer or matte); army green; mustard yellow; and neutral dark brown. I used the Uh-Huh Honey (Buzz Kill and Totally Buggin’) and Perception (IE and Played Out) eyeshadow palettes from Colourpop.
- Neutral matte bronzer + neutral blush
- Brick red / brown / nude lipstick
Step 1: Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to add the army green eyeshadow to the crease. Layer the shadow 2-3 times so that the colour looks deep and the crease looks defined.
Step 2: Use the same fluffy brush to add some mustard yellow towards the outer edge of the crease to add some warmth to the crease.
Step 3: Dip a flat shader brush into the deep forest green eyeshadow colour, spray it with makeup fixing spray or water and then gently tap it all over the lid and slightly into the crease area. Work in layers and small sections, so the colour intensity builds. Remember to tap — don’t swipe because if you do the wet brush can take away colour, instead of adding it on.
Step 4: Use a tapered eyeshadow brush to gently tap in dark brown into the outer corner of the eye. Once you are happy with the depth of the eyeshadow, then gently blend the dark brown into the forest green onto the lid.
Step 5: Use a flat tip brush or angled brush to create a wing on the outer corner of the eye using the dark brown eyeshadow. Optional: add a light gold shimmer to highlight the inner corner of the eyes.
Step 6: Use a medium smudge brush to apply the army green to the lower lash line and then use a small smudge brush to layer the deep forest green shimmer on top.
Step 7: Use a small smudge brush to add a little brown to the outer corner of the lower lash line, so that it connects to the wing on the upper lid. Pile on the mascara.
Step 8: Use an angled cheek brush with a neutral matte bronzer to contour and bronze the cheeks a little more than you usually would — a contoured cheek compliments a smoky eye very nicely. Dust a little blush — any neutral blush will do — and blend it into the bronzer, so that the blush colour doesn’t stand out too much.
Step 9: Complete the look with a brick red, brown or nude lipstick — it’s your choice 🙂
