Hotel Review: New Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai’s Old City – Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts Hotel
Chiang Mai is quickly becoming a must-visit spot for any Thailand holiday itinerary. With a little bit of everything from good food and trendy cafes to unique culture and lots of sightseeing options, finding a good quality hotel in Chiang Mai at a reasonable price that allows easy access to all of the above is not easy but also not impossible.
I recently stayed at the new Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts Hotel on a recent trip to Chiang Mai located within the Old City area. Here are my thoughts:
The hotel is beautifully designed with Thai-inspired terracotta carvings and figures all over giving it a very grand and luxurious appearance.
What is truly unique is the way the garden landscaping is designed around the main pool area and the Garden Cafe to incorporate the terracotta art.
Modern and smartly-appointed, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The beds are particularly plush and offer a restful night’s sleep. Some rooms have a wide balcony with seating for two and others have pool access.
A unique part of the hotel is the Library area, which is an open-air lounge area to read or relax on the Thai triangular cushions and straw mats on the floor.
The hotel also offers a modest international breakfast buffet with the option to order a hot and fresh breakfast including eggs, toast, meat and a beverage, which is a nice touch.
I did not eat any meals at the hotel restaurant because there were so many dining options nearby to discover and explore. The hotel’s location is unbeatable because all the main attractions are either a short walk or a short taxi ride away.
I had a memorable and wonderful stay at the Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts Hotel and recommend it for all kinds of travellers.
Note: Airport transfers are available. Please book in advance with the reception.
